"Photography does not create eternity, as art does; it embalms time, rescuing it simply from its proper corruption." ~ André Bazin (1918 - 1958)
With photography, a person has the ability to stop time. To hold it in memory, seemingly forever.
I use photography in two ways; first and foremost, as a "stand alone" artistic media. I love the interplay of color, composition, and shadow. I love the limitations of the media itself, and the challenge of attempting to capture the image seen by my "mind's eye" onto paper.
Therefore, I view photography as an art, and I've separated my "art galleries" as follows:
I also use photography as a resource to help me create and compose a painting. I use several different photographs to help me remember and focus on an image, so that I can re-create the feeling of that image onto canvas.
